Do you ever feel like your life is overflowing with stuff? 😩
I used to feel like my room was too small, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw anything away. My clothes were piled high, expired makeup was taking up space, and I even kept old gift boxes and delivery boxes…
Then I started practicing decluttering, and I realized how much easier life could be! 🙌
Decluttering isn’t just about getting rid of things, it’s about clearing your mind and returning to a simpler life. ✨
Here’s what I’ve noticed after decluttering:
- More space, less stress: My closet used to be crammed with clothes, and finding anything was a nightmare! After decluttering, I ruthlessly got rid of clothes I hadn’t worn in years, clothes that didn’t fit, and clothes I just didn’t love anymore. Now my closet only holds clothes I actually wear, and it’s so much easier to find what I need. Getting dressed in the morning feels less stressful and more enjoyable!
- More mindful spending, less impulse buying: I used to buy things I liked on a whim, only to find that I didn’t actually need them and they ended up sitting in a corner collecting dust. After decluttering, I started to think more carefully about my purchases. Do I really need this? Will I actually use it? This has helped me be more mindful with my money and spend less on things I won’t use.
- More focus on the present, less clinging to the past: I used to keep a lot of old things, like textbooks from college, graduation photos, and old letters. These things held memories, but I realized they were actually holding me back from moving forward. I couldn’t let go of the past. After decluttering, I decided to organize these things, keep the most important ones, and get rid of the rest. It felt liberating to let go of the past and focus on the present.
My decluttering tips:
- Start with the easy stuff: Your closet and bookshelves are good places to start. Start by decluttering the things you don’t use very often.
- Set a goal: Maybe you want to get rid of 10 items or clear out one drawer. I started by aiming to get rid of 10 pieces of clothing, but ended up getting rid of over 20!
- Don’t hesitate, just do it: Hesitation will only make you more attached to things. Be decisive and you’ll find your life is much better. I used to hesitate about getting rid of things, but I realized that keeping them was just taking up space and time. Now I’m more decisive and it’s so much easier to let go.
Decluttering is a journey of self-discovery, and a new way of living.
